The Extra Place Project in Partnership With FareShare

For Peapod & Co., food has always been about connection, bringing people together and now giving something back. The Extra Place Project, created in partnership with FareShare (soon merging with The Felix Project), invites hosts to sponsor an “extra place” at their table, turning celebrations into meaningful support for those facing food insecurity.

The Extra Place Project - FareShare

Each sponsored place helps prevent perfectly good surplus food from going to waste while providing nutritious meals for vulnerable communities across the UK. For example, a £100 donation can fund up to 500 meals through FareShare, helping feed families, children and older adults who might otherwise go hungry.

“As we mark our sixth year at Peapod & Co., we wanted to create a meaningful way for our clients to give back while celebrating together,” says Henrietta, Founder and Head Chef of Peapod & Co. “The Extra Place Project is a really special project at Peapod & Co., it reflects our commitment to community and sustainability and ensures every event can make a positive impact.”

Food insecurity remains a growing concern in the UK, driven by rising living costs, supply chain pressures and unequal access to nutritious food. According to The Food Foundation, 7.2 million adults and 2.7 million children face food insecurity, while an estimated 10 billion meals’ worth of food is wasted each year.

FareShare and The Felix Project

The Extra Place Project tackles both challenges simultaneously, ensuring food reaches those who need it most while giving clients a creative way to make a real difference through their events. FareShare’s proactive approach is transforming how the industry views surplus, turning potential waste into vital resources and fostering a more sustainable, community-driven food system.

“It’s inspiring to see the hospitality, event and catering industry embracing creative ways to tackle food waste and hunger,” says Annabel, Marketing Manager of Peapod & Co. “Projects like this prove that celebrations can do more than bring people together, they can create lasting impact.”

Whether planning a corporate dinner, purpose-led brand activation, awards ceremony, press dinner or private celebration, clients can sponsor extra places at their tables, transforming each gathering into a chance to give back. The project also welcomes collaborations with like-minded brands seeking to align their events with authentic social impact and sustainable partner.

Even small gestures, like sponsoring an extra seat, can make a meaningful difference, helping events of all sizes directly support people in need. Launched in autumn 2025, the initiative is now open to all clients, offering a socially responsible element that enhances any private or corporate event.

At its heart, the project isn’t just about providing meals, it’s about connecting people, building community and encouraging generosity in tangible, meaningful ways. Each event we host, becomes part of a broader movement to reduce food waste and support those experiencing food insecurity.
