The Extra Place Project: Peapod & Co.'s Fundraiser for FareShare
Make Every Seat Count – Help Fight Food Waste and Hunger
Join Peapod & Co. in setting an extra place at our events as part of The Extra Place Project. The Extra Place Project is our fundraising campaign supporting FareShare (merging with The Felix Project), one of the UK’s leading food redistribution and food waste charities.
Every extra place you sponsor helps provide meals for those experiencing food insecurity and prevents good food from going to waste.
Food Hunger in the UK
According to the Food Foundation, around 11 million people in the UK, including 8 million adults and 3 million children, struggle to get enough to eat. The cost-of-living crisis has made this situation even worse.
Every year, the UK food industry wastes over 4 million tonnes of perfectly good food, enough for around 10 billion meals.
Why Support FareShare/The Felix Project?
FareShare/The Felix Project tackles this problem by taking surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and suppliers and delivering it to nearly 8,000 charities and community groups across the UK.
These charities turn the food into meals for over 1 million people every year, including community centres and hubs, homeless shelters, and school breakfast clubs.
Together, we can stop good food going to waste and help make sure no one in the UK goes hungry.
For every event we cater, you have the option to sponsor one or more places, a symbolic gesture that makes a real difference.
A £100 sponsorship can help FareShare/The Felix Project redistribute enough surplus food for around 500 meals
100% of your donation goes directly to FareShare.
To support a more sustainable, food-waste-conscious future, please donate to The Extra Place Project, Peapod & Co.’s fundraiser for ‘FareShare - Registered Charity No. 1100051)’.
