Sustainable Catering - Peapod & Co.

At Peapod & Co., sustainability is at the heart of how we cater and plan events.
We focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, low-waste menus and responsible event practices across Hampshire, London and the South of England.

We take a practical approach to reducing our environmental impact. Around 70% of our ingredients are sourced locally, alongside measures to minimise waste and support community initiatives such as The Extra Place Project.

Our approach is simple: thoughtful sourcing, efficient kitchens and well-planned events that reduce impact without compromising on quality or experience.

Sustainable Catering Practices

We take a practical approach to sustainability across catering and events.

Our key commitments:
• We source responsibly, using local and seasonal suppliers
• We reduce waste through smarter menus and creative ingredient use
• We replace single-use plastics with reusable and compostable alternatives
• We partner with venues that prioritise renewable energy and biodiversity
• We engage clients and staff in responsible event practices
• We track and improve our sustainability performance year on year

Minimising Waste

We reduce waste across every stage of catering and event delivery.

  • Smarter menu planning
We design seasonal menus to avoid over-ordering and keep portion sizes balanced, reducing food waste.

  • Creative ingredient use
Surplus ingredients are repurposed wherever possible — from stocks and sauces to garnishes and preserves.

  • Recycling and recovery
All cooking oil is collected and converted into biofuel, and we work with partners to responsibly manage unavoidable waste.

  • Reducing single-use items
We prioritise reusable glassware, crockery and tableware, and replace single-use plastics with recyclable or compostable alternatives wherever possible.

  • Sustainable packaging
We use recyclable or biodegradable packaging that meets food safety standards.

The Extra Place Project

We’re proud to support initiatives such as The Extra Place Project.

For every event, clients can choose to sponsor additional meals for people facing food insecurity — linking each event to a wider community impact.

Locally Sourced & Sustainable Ingredients

We source high-quality ingredients from trusted local suppliers and producers.

Around 70% of our ingredients come from within 50 miles of our Hampshire base, supporting local farms, dairies and fisheries while reducing food miles.

Our menus reflect the seasons and make use of locally sourced meat, fish and English wines, beers and spirits.

Sustainable Venues

We work with venues across Hampshire, London and the South of England that share a responsible approach to events.

These venues prioritise renewable energy, waste reduction and biodiversity, helping reduce the overall environmental impact of each event.

Greener Events & Operations

Sustainability also shapes how we run our events and day-to-day operations.

We reduce reliance on single-use materials, encourage shared transport where possible and minimise paper use through digital systems.
