A Sparkling English Wine Celebration in Hampshire
Peapod & Co. had the pleasure of providing vineyard catering for an English sparkling wine tasting event at Candover Brook Vineyard, nestled in the rolling hills of Candover Valley, Hampshire. The event – “Candover Brook and Canapés in the Vineyard” – brought together Candover’s finest English sparkling wines and canapés.
On arrival, guests were greeted with Candover Brook’s Brut and Rosé wines. As the sun cast its golden glow over the vineyard, guests savoured a selection of Peapod & Co. canapés, celebrating the bounties of the sea, the richness of the soil, and the flavours of the land. Freshly-shucked oysters from Devon added an extra touch of indulgence to the soirée.
During the evening, Mark Sainsbury introduced guests to their award-winning Brut and Rosé wines. These English wines hold a special place in the Sainsbury family's heart, as they represent the culmination of years of dedication and love for the vineyard, which was lovingly planted in 2012.

About Candover Brook Vineyard
Candover Brook Vineyard stands as a testament to the enduring commitment of the late Lord John Sainsbury, who dedicated four decades of his life to nurturing the family estate. In the last ten years, this passion extended to his sons, Mark and Julian Sainsbury, who lovingly planted vines on a south-facing slope.
The grapes are hand-harvested, carefully whole bunch pressed, and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This approach ensures that the wines retain their youthful fruit character and authenticity. Both the Rosé and Brut undergo malolactic fermentation, a process that adds depth and complexity to the sparkling wine.
