Lily & Scott’s Greenhouse Wedding in Hartley Wintney

Peapod & Co. had the privilege of catering a stunning greenhouse wedding at the picturesque West Green House nestled outside the village of Hartley Wintney, Hampshire. This enchanting venue, renowned for its beautifully designed 18th-century gardens by Marylyn Abbott, provided the perfect backdrop for a summer wedding.

Wedding Setting at West Green House

West Green House offers a unique setting that marries traditional style with contemporary design. The venue's walled gardens, sweeping lawns, and the greenhouse itself created an idyllic environment for the wedding celebration that felt like stepping into a fairytale.

For Lily & Scott’s wedding, the wedding reception was beautifully arranged in the candlelit greenhouse and surrounding gardens, creating a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor settings. The tablescape featured elegant lemon stationery for the table plan and place names, complemented by white wedding fan favours to keep guests cool. The tables were adorned with lush greenery, vibrant colourful floral arrangements and candles.

From the moment guests stepped into the gardens and greenhouse, they were immersed in a intimate and magical atmosphere.

Wedding Reception and Menu

Guests were welcomed into the West Green House’s gardens with a selection of drinks, including bubbles, wine, and mocktails, all while enjoying the sweet sounds of a live saxophonist.

Canapés and Reception Drinks

Peapod & Co. served a selection of canapés from the sea, soil and land chosen by the bride and groom. The menu included Chargrilled ponzu broccoli taco with wasabi and whipped avocado, Botanical tuna sea garden, Seared scallop with orange, seaweed, and brown butter, Green pesto arancini, BBQ pulled pork brioche bun with pickled red cabbage and pancetta (pictured) and Ham hock croquette with saffron hollandaise.

Reception drinks included Cremant d’Alsace and Mirabeau La Folie Rosé, offering guests a refreshing start to the celebration.

The Dinner

The evening’s three-course menu was a celebration of seasonal ingredients, thoughtfully curated to delight the guests. The starter offered a choice between seared scallops with pea and mint purée, pancetta, mint oil, and pea shoots, and Pugliese burrata with peach, artichoke, mint, and basil.

For the main course, guests enjoyed Hereford fillet of beef with mushroom purée, creamy brown butter mash, glazed mushrooms, tender baby carrots, and a velvety red wine jus. For those preferring a vegetarian option, we served a pea, asparagus and parmesan risotto.

To finish, guests enjoyed Chocolate and salted caramel cheesecake, mango mousse and aero crumb. The dinner wines included Gavi del Comune di Gavi, Tilimuqui Malbec, and Roche Bellemont Rosé.

Heartfelt speeches from the father of the bride, groom, and best man added a personal touch to the celebration, with a toast of Laurent-Perrier Champagne.

Evening Party and Late Night Food

Post dinner, the celebration continued with lively dancing and cocktails, including Aperol Spritz, Tanqueray Gin & Tonic.

DJ Joe Vetchy entertained the crowd with a mix of classic and contemporary hits. The energy remained high as the happy couple danced the night away under the stars with their closest friends and family.

Late-night snacks were served by Peapod & Co., followed by wedding cake.
